Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada and raised in the United States. She's been an editor since the year 1995. Feminist Frequency is a website which hosts video and commentary looking at the portrayals of gender roles in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian as well as an American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency, a web-based resource dedicated to education, which examines women's roles in pop culture narratives was the result of her research. The site also has the director of operations. Aiming to break down the stereotypes that are associated with females in pop culture she also is a vocal advocate for issues relating to targeted exploitation of women and the other marginalized groups of individuals in the internet environment. Sarkeesian who has an MA in the field of Social and Political Thought in the field of social and political thought from York University, is a well-known public speakers. She has spoken at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. Inquiring about gender and feminism since at an early age, she created her own website Feminist Frequency in 2009 while still a student at the University. This ambitious woman planned to start an internet-based series that examined the role of gender in games but was the target of an online campaign to harass her. This attack didn't stop her from pursuing the project, and instead it bolstered her resolve as a feminist critic of media. Her numerous contributions to the feminist field have been recognized by numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian won awards for her work as a critic of media and founded Feminist Frequency. The nonprofit explores the portrayals of women in contemporary pop culture.
